Sivarasa to seek legal advice against See-To, Faekah

PKR's Subang MP R Sivarasa said he will be seeking legal advice against BN strategic communications deputy director Eric See-To and Faekah Husin, who is former Selangor menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's aide.
Sivarasa said this was over the innuendos made by the duo on his law firm's role in the settlement of a land dispute on behalf of 980 settlers in Ijok.
"I will be getting legal advice on the allegations and innuendoes in See-To’s and Faekah’s statements," he said in a statement today.
See-To, in a Facebook post, suggested that there may have been a conflict of interest when Sivarasa's firm acted on behalf of the settlers, due to his links with PKR and the fact that the Selangor government, which acted as a mediator, was also led by PKR.
"He assumes for his argument of 'so-called conflict of interest' that the Selangor government appointed my firm to act for the 980 settlers. This is false and mischievous.
"He has only to read my press statement issued last Friday, Feb 23, to know that it was the settlers who appointed my firm to act for them. The appointment has nothing to do with the state government.

"See-To (photo) should also meet and ask the settlers whether the state government had directed them to appoint my firm. I am happy to arrange that meeting for him to know the truth direct from them," Sivarasa said.
He also complained that Faekah had falsely suggested that his firm would act for the land transaction that resulted in the settlement.
He stressed that both the buyer and seller had their own lawyers.
"My firm’s responsibilities included receiving the amount of unpaid compensation due to the settlers and ensuring that each of the settlers received their due. That has been done.
"Our job was also to ensure that the settlers’ entitlement to houses was protected through written agreements between each settler and the white knight developer. We have also done this," he said.
Compensation for the Ijok settlers had been stalled due to the landowner being unable to provide the requested compensation.
However, the deadlock was broken following the sale of the land to a white knight developer, from which proceeds were used for the compensation.
"We know that Umno and its proxies, like See-To, Faekah and others, will continue their desperate attacks on Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali and the Selangor government for resolving the 20-year predicament of the Ijok settlers.
"I reiterate I remain confident that the 980 settlers and their families remain clear as to who caused their predicament and who solved it.
"Umno’s false propaganda and fake news cannot change that reality," Sivarasa said.- Mkini
