Mother, daughter suspected of maid abuse to be prosecuted tomorrow

Three individuals involved in abuse cases which resulted in the death of an Indonesian maid and a 46-day-old baby in Bukit Mertajam last week, will be prosecuted at the Magistrate’s Court here tomorrow.
Seberang Perai Tengah District Police chief Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the police had received instruction from the Attorney-General’s Chambers in Putrajaya to prosecute the suspects in the two cases.
“We submitted the investigation papers to the AGC earlier today and after discussions, they instructed us to prosecute those involved in the case, tomorrow,” he told reporters here today.
He said two of the three individuals were mother and daughter, who were the employers of the maid, while the other suspect was the father of the baby.
”In the maid’s case, the 60-year-old mother will be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, while her 36-year-old daughter will be charged under the Immigration Act.
“In the baby’s case, the 22-year-old father will also be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said, adding that the baby’s 26-year-old mother, however, had been released on police bail and would appear as the prosecution’s witness.

The Indonesian maid, Adelina Lisio, 28, was found at 8pm on Feb 10 with severe bodily injuries believed to have been abused by her employers, following report lodged by an assistant to Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim.
She succumbed to the injuries while receiving treatment at the Bukit Mertajam Hospital the following day, before police arrested her employers, namely two siblings and their mother, to assist in the investigations.
Meanwhile, the victim in the baby abuse case, Nurul Ain Umairah Muhammad Firdaus, died at 10.45am last Thursday while being taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital.
