ROS finally accepts DAP's new CEC

DAP's five-year struggle to have its central executive committee (CEC) recognised by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) is finally over.
Organising secretary Anthony Loke said the party has received a correspondence from the ROS which confirmed that all was well with its re-election held in November last year.
"With this letter, I can say that our troubles with the ROS over the past five years is finally over," Loke told a press conference today.
He said that the CEC that was elected will serve their term for three years until November 2020.
DAP held two CEC re-elections following the ROS' decision to nullify the election held in 2012.
There are, however, outstanding issues with the ROS for the party. This includes ROS' refusal to recognise new DAP branches since 2013 and the constitutional amendment in 2016.
Harapan may take ROS to court
Loke said there were about 200 pro-tem branches affected. He said efforts to reach out to the ROS for an answer had been futile.
"I urge the ROS to be a bit more customer-friendly," he said, adding that securing meetings with ROS officials was very difficult.

In a related development, Pakatan Harapan legal bureau chief Gobind Singh Deo (photo) told the press conference that the next hurdle was for ROS to expedite the coalition's registration process.
"I have to ask the ROS: Why hasn't Harapan been registered as an association? Why is there no news?
"We will write to the ROS tomorrow... If they do not respond, we may have to initiate legal proceedings... to compel them to provide an answer," he said.- Mkini
