A PAS syura council member has urged those dropped from the lineup to contest the 14th general election not to stab the party from behind, reported Sinar Harian.
Syura council member Johari Mat was reported telling members they are putting up the best candidates possible, and not trying to betray any particular individual.
“We have to accept there are names that will be dropped and no longer put up to contest in the 14th general election. This is God's will,” Johari was reported as saying.
“Those who are selected are our friends, our people, not outsiders who are running on our behalf,” he added.
He urged members not to take revenge on the party should a candidates' list that was leaked several days ago turned out to be true.
Johari claimed the list was spread to sow chaos within PAS.
Last week PAS admitted several leaders from outside Kelantan would be fielded in the state in the coming election.
Among them are party deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (photo), who will be fielded for the Kubang Kerian parliamentary seat.
Johari said this did not mean the state chapter was lacking in candidates, but that the move would strengthen PAS in Kelantan.
Among the other names in the leaked list include naming PAS information chief Nasruddin Hassan for the Bachok parliamentary seat, and syura council member Nik Muhammad Zawawi Nik Salleh for the Pasir Puteh parliamentary seat. -Mkini
