You understood me wrong, Hadi tells 'dual cabinet' critics

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said those who understood his statement as advocating for a dual cabinet that segregates Muslim and non-Muslims were wrong.
Instead, Hadi said he was only referring to the distribution of portfolios during his speech in Penang last Sunday.
"Dual cabinet is incorrect, it's not a dual cabinet but the distribution of duties.
"It's normal that in the government there is a prime minister, deputy prime minister, special functions minister and ministers with specific ministries.
"That's the normal distribution of duties, not two cabinets. They did not understand my statement," he told Malaysiakini in an interview at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Hadi  (photo) was responding to reports quoting him as saying that if PAS captures Putrajaya, the government would be divided into two, with one comprising people of the national faith who will draft national policies.
The Marang MP was also quoted as saying that the second group could comprise non-Muslims who would carry out the policies based on their expertise.
Other opposition leaders, particularly in Pakatan Harapan, had criticised Hadi for what they claimed was racial segregation and unconstitutional.
Even though Hadi stressed that there would be no dual cabinet, he said the concept of those professing the national faith formulating national policies was contained in Islamic scriptures.
He also said that the West had copied from Islamic scriptures in building their democracies.
"They know about the English revolution, the French revolution, the Russian revolution, about changing the government - but they did not know about elections until they studied Islamic history. Only then they could have elections," Hadi added. - Mkini
