PUTRAJAYA – 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) chief executive officer Arul Kanda appeared at the Finance Ministry here at 2.44pm on Wednesday.
Arul did not speak to reporters present and merely smiled as he walked past them, ignoring the barrage of questions directed at him.
He arrived in a black MPV (multi purpose vehicle) and was escorted by several police personnel into the building.
According to a finance ministry officer, Arul was questioned twice, first by 1MDB directors Datuk Kamal Mohd Ali and Datuk Norazman Ayob in a session lasting 50 minutes.
The finance ministry officer said besides Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, Damansara MP Tony Pua and Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming were also involved in the questioning.

After the session, Arul managed to give the waiting press a slip by leaving via a different exit.
On Tuesday (May 22), Lim said a sum of RM143.75mil was due to be paid to lenders by 1MDB by May 30.
Lim noted that Arul had insisted that 1MDB is fully able to service its debt obligations.
