Babies' deaths - parents claim cops giving excuses

A group of parents today claimed that the police were not serious in investigating the deaths of their children which occurred when they were under the care of babysitters.
The five parents vented their frustration at a press conference organised by the Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia (PPIM). This comes about two weeks after the tragic death of Adam Rayqal whose body was found in a refrigerator.
At the press conference, it was revealed that three babies died while under the care of babysitters while another two suffered permanent disabilities (allegedly due to the babysitters' negligence).
The parents claimed that they had lodged police reports on the respective cases but the reports were not taken seriously.
One of the parents, Abu Nain, 29, said his seven-month-old son Abu Zea Ophelia died on Jan 4.
He said the post-mortem report showed that Abu Zea sustained an 8cm crack on his skull due to being "hit by a blunt object".
"When the police started carrying their investigations, I contacted the investigating officer (IO) but I was told not to call as they themselves would update me.
"But until now, there has been no update on the investigation. The IO keeps giving me excuses such unable to talk as he is ill," he said.
"I have been kept in the dark over the investigations. I have no idea whether the police have questioned the babysitter as there has been no arrest of anyone.
Meanwhile, Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Baharudin Mat Taib said he has instructed his officers to review the case and resubmit the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor for further action. - Mkini
