DAP's Liew Chin Tong, Amanah'S Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad and Hindraf's P Waythamoorthy are among the eight senators who will be sworn in at Parliament tomorrow morning.
According to a parliamentary invitation sighted by Malaysiakini, the trio are the choice of the federal government and will be appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Three others will also be appointed as senators through the federal government's quota, namely Ismail Ibrahim, Mohd Radzi Md Jidin and Marzuki Yahya.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had previously said the remaining members of his government will be filled by senators.
The new minister and deputy ministers will be sworn in at Istana Negara tomorrow evening.
They will likely come from among the six senators mentioned above. At present, there are 27 ministers and 23 deputy ministers.
The position of Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of national unity and social well-being is vacant for now.
There are four vacant deputy minister positions, namely at the Defence Ministry, Economic Affairs Ministry, Housing and Local Government Ministry, and the Foreign Ministry.
The remaining two senator candidates were nominated through the state government quota.
They are Hussain Awang who was nominated by the Terengganu state assembly and Asmak Husin who is chosen by the Kelantan state assembly.
Both the Kelantan and Terengganu governments are led by PAS. - Mkini
