LANGKAWI: The sight of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad driving his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali in a brown Volkswagen Tiguan around the island is becoming common.
The couple arrived in Jalan Mahawangsa, Kuah town, yesterday to check out the Langkawi MP’s new service centre with their bodyguards sitting in the back of the car.
They spent about 30 minutes touring the four-storey unit before heading to the airport with Dr Mahathir again behind the wheel and the bodyguards in the rear.
.The new centre is expected to be opened at the end of this month.
Ayer Hangat assemblyman Juhari Bulat was also present during the tour.
Early last month, Dr Mahathir also drove his wife and their bodyguards to a meeting at Ombak Villa, the resort he was staying at.
He declined to be driven and got into the driver’s seat to drive himself back to his chalet.- Star
