Meminta Pencerahan - Bagaimana Para Malaikah Boleh Tahu?

Yesterday I attended a talk given by this Arab man, Sheikh Dr Muhammad Al Ninowi about the "Caliphate".

The sheikh who hails from Syria is 52 years old (younger than me) he is a graduate in Islamic studies from Al Azhar and is also a Medical doctor. He lives in the United States and speaks with an American accent. Yesterday he looked exactly as in the picture above.  He walked in holding a Starbucks coffee in his hand.  The event started about half an hour late.

The stress of his talk was the word "caliph". A caliph means a successor. The sheikh said he does not agree with the traditional understanding of the word caliph.e pointed out Surah 2: 30 - 33 which mentions the word caliph (khalifah).

He said that khalifah in these verses (2:30) refers successors on earth. Human beings who will succeed each other on earth.

Here are the relevant verses (I dont know who is the translator here, I just picked it off from the Web,  not very accurate)  :

(2:30) Just think when your Lord said to the malaikah:  “Lo! I am about to place a vicegerent (khalifah) on earth,” they said: “Will You place on it one who will spread mischief and shed blood while we celebrate Your glory and extol Your holiness?” He said: “Surely I know what you do not know.”

(2:31) Then Allah taught Adam the names of all things and presented them to the malaikah and said: “If you are right then tell Me the names of these things.”

(2:32) They said. “Glory to You! We have no knowledge except what You taught us.  You, only You, are All-Knowing, All-Wise.”

(2:33) Then Allah said to Adam: “Tell them the names of these things.” And when he had told them the names of all things, Allah said: “Did I not say to you that I know everything about the heavens and the earth which are beyond your range of knowledge and I know all that you disclose and also all that you hide?”

During question time I asked a question. Not about khalifah but about the malaikah.

The verses above cite the story of Allah introducing Adam to the malaikah.

My question was if Adam was the first human being, how did the malaikah know that humans would  " spread mischief and shed blood"

How did the malaikah already know this?

Also since the malaikah said :   Glory to You! We have no knowledge except what You taught us

meaning they have no knowledge except what they have been taught.

So how did the malaikah get the knowledge that the humans (Adam) would spread mischief and shed blood ?

The sheikh could not answer.
He said a bit of this and that but admitted that there was no solid answer.

From a Quran point of view  one obvious answer is that  the malaikah have seen human behaviour before.

That is why they said  human beings will  "spread mischief and shed blood"

Then the word Adam shares the same root as the arabic word damma (blood).

In the Arabic Quran the word Adam is written  as 'adamma'.

When a baby is newly conceived the Quran describes it as a clump of  blood  (damma).

Adamma can also refer to humanity. The human beings.

There is no mention of Eve or Hawa in the Quran.
