Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman suffered a "minor heart attack" this afternoon and is currently in the intensive care unit at the Penang Hospital.
According to his aide Muhasdey Muhammad, Zakiyuddin's condition is stable.
"My boss had chest pains before attending an event in Kepala Batas at about 11.45am," Muhasdey said via a WhatsApp message.
"His driver took him to a private hospital five minutes later," he added.
Zakiyuddin was later referred to the Penang Hospital for an angiogram.
"He is stable and can talk. Doctors told him to rest before going back to work," Muhasdey said.
Zakiyuddin, 60, the Pinang Tunggal assemblyperson, is also state Islamic affairs, industrial development and community relations committee chairperson. - Mkini
