‘There’s only my camp,’ Wan Azizah says again amid Azmin-Rafizi showdown

PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has reiterated that there is only "one camp" in the party – hers – amid a potential showdown between incumbent deputy president Azmin Ali and his challenger Rafizi Ramli in the upcoming party polls.
"There's only one camp - my camp.
"We need old and new faces, the combination is important. More important is our task to improve the people's quality of life," she told journalists while campaigning for PKR's candidate in the Sungai Kandis by-election, Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni.
Wan Azizah previously said there was only her “camp” in the party before the 14th general election, following a tussle within Selangor PKR over the choice of election candidates for the state.
Her decision to drop several election candidates proposed by the Azmin-led Selangor party chapter had irked several party leaders.
Among these leaders was PKR vice-president Tian Chua, who warned the party's central leadership about its selection of candidates.
‘I support everyone’
Wan Azizah was today asked to comment about Rafizi's decision to challenge Azmin.
"I support everyone (who will be contesting). I feel our democratic practice is a healthy one, and I believe competition can help our party to develop and drum up the spirit of our youths," she said.
While Rafizi has confirmed his intention to gun for the deputy president post, Azmin has yet to confirm which position he will be contesting.
The next most senior position for Azmin would be the party presidency, although that will see him go up against long-time de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.
The PKR election will commence on Aug 24 over nine weeks with the results expected to be announced in November.
On a separate matter, Wan Azizah said she is awaiting a report over the resignation of Selangor PKR Youth secretary Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman and other youth leaders.
Syed Badli had accused Selangor PKR leaders of cronyism in how they deal with political appointees.
"I have not had a chance to speak with the (Selangor) state leadership yet, I will try and get a report from them," she said.  -Mkini
