Sabah PH Youth lodges MACC report over supply of subsidised fuel

Sabah PH Youth chief Raymond Ahuar speaks to reporters after lodging the report at the MACC office in Kota Kinabalu today.
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Pakatan Harapan Youth today lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over alleged abuse of power in the provision of subsidised fuel in the interior of the state.
Its chief Raymond Ahuar alleged that several individuals in the domestic trade and consumer affairs ministry may have abused their power over the supply and payment of subsidised petrol and diesel in Pagalungan and Pensiangan.
He said the report followed investigations by Sabah Pakatan Harapan members after complaints were received from the grassroots.
“From the investigations, we found out that the supply of subsidised fuel was stopped at the end of last month, when the supply contract should only end this Dec 31,” he claimed after lodging the report at the MACC office here today.
He questioned the amount of RM413,840 paid in November, saying the 292,000 litres of fuel supplied to “such a small sub-district for November alone is abnormally high”.
Ahuar said Sabah PH Youth was ready to help MACC in its investigation, if necessary.
He said people in the rural areas such as Pagalungan and Pensiangan, where he is the PKR head, depended on subsidised fuel for their boats, which were the main mode of transport there.
“The people, particularly those in the rural areas, have a right to subsidised fuel, and the government should ensure that,” he said. - FMT
