Vandals and litterbugs spoil reopening of newly-refurbished Taman Tasik Titiwangsa

– Noor Fazlina Rosley/Facebook
PETALING JAYA: Vandals and litterbugs unfortunately made their mark at Taman Tasik Tititwangsa within five hours of its reopening on Sunday (Dec 15).
Pictures of rubbish thrown indiscriminately around the newly-refurbished park as well as a words scratched onto concrete signage were posted on Facebook by Noor Fazlina Rosley.
Noor Fazlina, who is also the Project Implementation and Building Maintenance Department senior assistant director (Architect) of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), wrote that it happened within five hours after the public was allowed back into the park.
She also chided some visitors who used the bicycles on jogging tracks.
At the time of writing, the post has been shared over 500 times, with many people voicing their dissatisfaction over such inconsiderate behaviour.
Others called on the authorities to install close circuit television cameras and to take action against the vandals.
The Federal Territories Ministry shared the post on its Facebook page, asking the public to take care of public facilities in the park.
"We use the facilities as one, we take care of them as well," it said.
Taman Tasik Titiwangsa was closed in September last year for DBKL to carry out renovation and upgrading works.
The RM99.88mil project covered 20.2ha of the 46.14ha park and boasts four new features – a Maze Garden, Banjaran Canopy Walkway, Children's Waterplay Park and two playgrounds (one for toddlers and the other for children aged six to 12).
