MELAKA: A man who was enjoying his meal at a bus stop here is among those detained by Melaka police for violating the movement control order (MCO).
The man in his 30s was among 137 individuals arrested at various locations during the MCO since March 8.
State CID Chief Asst Comm Mohd Nor Yhazid said those detained gave various excuses when detained at roadblocks and other areas.
"My men tried to be compassionate on certain excuses, but some gave lame excuses," he said on Monday (March 30).
ACP Mohd Nor said those detained were mostly aged between 30 and 50.
He said eight cases each of MCO violations will be charged at Alor Gajah and Ayer Keroh on Tuesday (March 31).
ACP Mohd Nor said the Alor Gajah court will involve 20 individuals, whereas 16 individuals will be produced at Ayer Keroh.
"We hope locals abide strictly to the MCO," he added. - Star
