Police: Kota Damansara road closures to lead defiant residents to roadblocks

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Police have allayed fears of an enhanced movement control order (MCO) imposed in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said since the nationwide MCO was enforced on March 18, it was found that there were many alternative roads for residents to leave the area for non-essential matters.
"Many Kota Damansara residents who refused to comply with the MCO have evaded our roadblocks using alternative roads.
"It's also because Kota Damansara is bordering Sungai Buloh," he told Malaysiakini.
According to a notice issued by the Petaling Jaya district police station, the three affected roads are Jalan Persiaran Mahogani Seksyen 9; Jalan Persiaran Jati Seksyen 8; and Jalan Persiaran Sungai Buloh (TSB).
Nik Ezanee said residents were allowed to leave their homes for essential matters only, such as purchasing food and groceries.
"But some people refuse to comply with the order. So we will see how it goes in three or four days.
"If things still don't improve, we will readjust," he said.
Concerns over an enhanced MCO were raised after the Health Ministry imposed the move yesterday in two areas in Kluang, Johor until April 9.
The stricter order in Kluang has seen 650 from 3,570 residents being confined to their homes - under strict watch from the police and military - while health officers search house-to-house for Covid-19 cases. - Mkini
