Eight-month-old baby among new Covid-19 cases

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Among the seven new Covid-19 cases today, one is an eight-month-old baby at a hospital in Likas and another is an auxiliary immigration officer from the Bukit Jalil depot cluster.
“The pre-operation screening case at the Women and Children’s Hospital in Likas, Sabah [...] involved an eight-month-old girl who had symptoms and underwent an operation.
“The one Malaysian (in the Bukit Jalil depot cluster) is actually an auxiliary immigration officer. That means he is a staff, without symptoms but may have been exposed to positive patients or detainees.
“We have isolated him and we also have done active case detection on close contacts,” said Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in his press conference today.
The ministry is also doing active case detection for the eight-month-old baby, he added.
On a separate matter, Noor Hisham said the ministry is exploring options on how their hospitals and clinics can better provide services for patients in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This may include bringing their services to the community or to the patients’ houses, he said, such as through virtual clinics or delivering medication to their patients.
This is so that patients do not have to go to the hospitals or clinics, especially for those who may have difficulties doing so such as stroke patients or those without transportation.
Noor Hisham said they are also looking into how they can maintain social distancing at their hospitals and clinics using measures such as making appointments.  - Mkini
