Kuala Langat residents allowed past barbed wire only if get tested

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Residents at the semi-enhanced movement control order (MCO) area in Kuala Langat are allowed to exit and enter the zone provided they undergo Covid-19 testing at checkpoints.
"For an area under semi-enhanced MCO, we fence it with barbed wires but residents have to undergo tests before coming in and out of the area," said senior minister (security cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob at a press conference today.
He added that the authorities would conduct screening for all residents within the affected areas.
Earlier today, Malaysiakini reported that Taman Langat Utama and Taman Langat Murni in Bukit Changgang have been placed under semi-enhanced MCO since yesterday.
The residents in those areas consisted of both locals and foreigners.
The semi-enhanced MCO is believed to be because 28 Covid-19 cases were discovered there, mostly involving workers for a cleaning company that serves the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri also said that non-Muslims who have to cross state lines for marriage registration are allowed to do so since the conditional MCO was implemented.
"However, only four people are allowed to do so. They are the bride, bridegroom, and two witnesses," he said.
Asked whether the conditional MCO may be extended, Ismail Sabri said, "So far, we don't know because there's no discussion on the matter yet."
The current conditional MCO is scheduled to end on June 9. - Mkini
