MySejahtera app receives 700k applications in a minute after RM50 offer

Malaysiakini

The government’s MySejahtera app received about 700,000 registrations within one minute after the government announced it was a prerequisite to redeem the RM50 e-wallet credit under the National Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana), revealed Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
“Following the government’s announcement about the RM50 e-wallet credit for consumers after they download the MySejahtera app, we found that we had huge traffic in registration.
“We found we received 700,000 registrations simultaneously in a short time - within a minute.
“So we advise those who want to download the application, maybe we should practice distancing (in downloading the app) as well... then we would not have such congestion,” Noor Hisham said in his press conference today.
He said the ministry is currently looking into how they can mitigate this issue to ensure everyone can get registered in the MySejahtera app as soon as possible.
On a separate matter, Noor Hisham said he would be meeting with the Education Ministry tomorrow to discuss when schools can be reopened under the recovery movement control order (MCO).
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had said while announcing the Penjana plan that schools would be allowed to reopen in stages but that details would be left up to the Education Ministry.
Previously, the Education Ministry had released guidelines and standard operating procedures for schools but did not state when they would be allowed to reopen.
Noor Hisham said that they might look into allowing only Form Five and Form Six students back to school first.
Regardless, he said parents would be given two weeks to prepare for the reopening of schools. - Mkini
