Sarawak police apprehended a foreign couple who allegedly fled to evade treatment after being tested positive for Covid-19 on June 17.
The Borneo Post quoted Sarawak Police Commissioner Aidi Ismail who confirmed the couple's arrest and that they had been handed over to the Health Ministry for further action.
"They are now currently at the Sarawak General Hospital for further action and treatment," Aidi reportedly told The Borneo Post via WhatsApp late last night.
It was previously reported that police launched a manhunt since late Wednesday and the couple was eventually located at a house along Jalan Matang Baru, Kuching, at around 11.15pm last night.
He added that the couple was tracked down by the Kuching district police together with personnel from the Health Ministry.
This comes after the Health Ministry had reportedly lodged a police report over the couple's disappearance after a mandatory swab test on June 16 before they were allowed to work at a construction site in Petra Jaya.
Test results a day later, on June 17, revealed the couple tested positive for Covid-19 but a team of Health Ministry officers who went to their living quarters reportedly discovered that they were already gone. - Mkini
