Sports-related businesses can operate beginning June 15 - Ismail Sabri

Malaysiakini
CORONAVIRUS | The government has agreed to allow the reopening of the sports-related business sector, such as gymnasium, indoor court, sports complex and snooker centres beginning June 15, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
However, he said, the operators concerned are first required to fill out a form on the notification of the opening of their respective premises through the International Trade and Industry’s website for reference on the standard operating procedure and for monitoring purpose by the Youth and Sports Ministry.
“The notification form can be accessed from today,” he told a media conference here today.
Ismail Sabri said the government had also agreed to allow the public to carry out indoor and outdoor sports and recreational activities that do not involve body contact from June 15.
This involves individual sports (badminton, sports and weightlifting), motorsports, extreme sports (parachuting, surfboard, paramotor) and recreational sports, like aerobics and yoga.
However, the public has to comply with the requirement on social distancing of one to three metres for static activities, such as weight lifting and running on treadmills, and three to five metres for dynamic activities such as football, hockey and rugby training.
“For team sports such as football, hockey, rugby, netball and combat sports, like karate, taekwondo and silat, the decision remains, they cannot be played as a game.
“The sports are allowed only for training purpose, with no body contact and social distancing should be observed during training,” he added.
Ismail Sabri also said organising tournaments, events, sports competitions and water sports are still not allowed at this time to avoid people gathering.
