Bersatu to name and shame party dissidents tomorrow

Malaysiakini

Bersatu will release a list of roughly 288 people whose party memberships have been terminated with immediate effect for their alleged ties to the “Blackout” faction aligned with former Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin reportedly said the name list will be issued to division chiefs and the Bersatu Party Election Committee (JPP) through the press tomorrow.
“As I’ve addressed before, we have investigated all complaints we received and today, I have given notice to everyone that action has been taken against about 288 people and their Bersatu membership has been nullified.
“I have informed several media outlets and we will issue the list to them, and God willing, the notice will be issued to the divisions through newspapers tomorrow.
“We will also give the names so that if any of them become delegates, they cannot attend divisional meetings; and also to the JPP so that the JPP can determine whether they can attend or contest (in party elections) and delete their names from the list of candidates,” Astro Awani quoted him as saying.
The broadcaster reported that Hamzah, who is also home minister, had said this during deputy inspector-general Acryl Sani Abdullah’s appointment ceremony in Putrajaya today.
He also reportedly told reporters that Bersatu had received over 30,000 applications for new memberships over the past two weeks.
Bersatu is currently in midst of infighting over the future direction of the party, as well as a party election.
Mahathir, who is opposed to Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin move to align with BN and other parties to form Perikatan Nasional, has been terminated from Bersatu and set up a new party dubbed Pejuang.
Many Bersatu members subsequently announced that they are quitting Bersatu to join Pejuang instead. - Mkini
