PETALING JAYA: The police have confirmed that a disturbing video of a boy being hit with a rubber hose was not taken in Malaysia, as the incident happened in China.
Bukit Aman CID deputy director Deputy Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid rubbished allegations that the video of the abuse happened in the country.
"This incident happened in China," he said when contacted on Monday (Aug 10).
The video had been circulating on social media platforms including Facebook and WhatsApp locally.
It showed a half-naked boy hung upside down from a door frame being beaten repeatedly by a man believed to be his father.
The boy cried in pain with each stroke of the rubber hose but fell silent towards the end of the video, which is believed to have been recorded by the boy's mother in Sichuan, China.
It is learnt that the boy has since been rescued and is doing well. - Star
