You were in PH Cabinet too, Mat Sabu tells Azmin

Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, who was defence minister under Pakatan Harapan.
PETALING JAYA: Amanah president Mohamad Sabu yesterday dismissed Mohamed Azmin Ali’s criticism of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, saying the former PKR deputy president was only embarrassing himself as he had been a member of its Cabinet.
Mohamad, who was defence minister in PH’s Cabinet, also said Azmin’s claim that the PH government had failed after being in power for only 22 months was likewise an acknowledgment of his own weaknesses.
Azmin was economic affairs minister in the PH Cabinet.
On a visit to the MIC operations room at Ladang Sungkai near Kampung Hendra, Sungkai, earlier yesterday, he told Slim voters to support Perikatan Nasional (PN), saying PH had been given the opportunity to rule and had failed to protect the people.
He said if Covid-19 had struck while PH was in power, more people would have suffered financially as a result of poor governing.
Speaking at a campaign in support of independent candidate Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi, Mohamad, popularly known as Mat Sabu, urged the public to reject the PN government, saying unlike PH, it had no manifesto.
He also called for voters to use the Slim by-election as a platform to restore democracy to the country after PN’s ascent to federal power.
“Malaysia is strange. The winner is the opposition and the loser is the government,” he said.
“In this by-election, we need to restore democratic rights, and we start here.”
Jerlun MP Mukhriz Mahathir meanwhile urged voters to reject candidates from Barisan Nasional (BN), saying support for the coalition was akin to support for former prime minister Najib Razak.
“We must reject Najib, reject BN,” he said.
“When you see the ‘dacing’ (logo), it’s Najib. Voting for the ‘dacing’ means voting for Najib. Voting for BN means supporting Najib.”
Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming meanwhile said the people must reject the PN government, calling it disorganised and inconsistent. - FMT
