Cops still tracking suspect who fled MACC, nab individual believed to be relative

Police are still tracking the location of the individual who fled after being released by the MACC, said Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed.

He said the suspect, known as Goh Leong Yeong @ Alvin, is currently being hunted by the police who have arrested an individual believed to be his relative.

"We will pressure Alvin as much as we can.

"Yesterday we (police) made an arrest on a man in the Klang Valley believed to be related to the suspect who fled," said Huzir.

On Oct 13, Goh, a key suspect in the money laundering investigation was reported to have escaped from police custody after he was released by the MACC.

Police identified him as 32-year-old Goh Leong Yeong, whose last known address is Miharja Condo in Kuala Lumpur.

Several media have reported him to be a "Datuk Seri", but a search on the royal titles database did not return any result on Goh.

Goh was among 10 people arrested by the MACC on Oct 7 over an illegal online gambling syndicate and the Macau scam racket.

The case had received widespread attention as eight police officers, the most senior of whom is an assistant commissioner were among those detained.

The MACC also seized RM100,000 in cash and 24 luxury cars.

On Oct 11, the MACC released the suspects on bail and some of them, including Goh, were to be handed over to the police for a separate investigation.

The police have been investigating the involvement of their personnel in the criminal syndicate.

However, Goh escaped from police waiting for him in front of the MACC building. - Mkini
