The government today announced an enhanced movement control order (MCO) for Felda Umas in Tawau, Sabah due to the increase in Covid-19 cases there.
The enhanced MCO for Felda Umas will come into effect at 12.01am on Oct 13 and will last until Oct 26, 2020.
This will affect 800 houses as well as 17,549 residents in the area.
The residents are not allowed to leave their houses under the enhanced MCO.
As such, Ismail said the government will deliver assistance to affected residents who are confined to their homes.
Among the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the enhanced MCO is that no one can enter or exit the targeted area in Felda Umas.
However, Ismail said the residents can be allowed to leave the area in cases of emergencies such as illness or death, but only after receiving clearance from the police.
The Health Ministry will be doing targeted screenings for all affected residents, he added.
The police, the military and various other authorities will be deployed to enforce the enhanced MCO in Felda Umas.
