Enhanced MCO on two areas in Selangor, one in Sarawak

The government will enforce an enhanced movement control order (MCO) on two localities in Selangor and one in Sarawak.

The areas in Selangor are Flat Sungai Emas in Kuala Langat and Plaza Hentian Kajang in Hulu Langat. The area in Sarawak is Kampung Haji Baki in Kuching.

The enhanced restrictions will be enforced starting tomorrow (Oct 28) until Nov 10 for the three localities.

The enhanced MCO at the Penang remand prison and prison quarters has also been extended until Nov 11 following reports of positive cases.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced this in his media conference today.

"At Flat Sg Emas, until Oct 24, a total of 1044 screenings were done and 42 individuals have found to be positive.

"At Plaza Hentian Kajang, 909 screenings were carried out and 63 individuals were positive," he said.

Other than Flat Sungai Emas which involved seven blocks, Ismail said the restricted areas include Jalan Emas 31 and Jalan Emas 32.

They all comprise 1,300 residents, while for Plaza Hentian Kajang, the restriction will involve 7,500 residents.

With the implementation of the enhanced MCO, all movement in and out of the areas are disallowed except for emergency cases.

All schools, mosques, and houses of worship will be closed. All economic activities are not allowed to operate, and all sports, social and cultural activities are also prohibited.

As for Kampung Haji Baki, the decision to impose the restriction on the area was made after 27 individuals were tested positive.

The enhanced MCO on the village will involve 4,191 residents. - Mkini
