Hadi questions if King's advice to stop politicking is being followed

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has questioned whether the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's advice urging for an end to politicking is being followed.

He also asked if MPs were obeying the royal advice for them not to act irresponsibly.

"Honest reflection must be done, to what extent has politicking stopped and irresponsible acts not committed.

"Serious observation must be done, are both these warnings being implemented?" Hadi said in a statement today.

The king's advice was made after he rejected the Perikatan Nasional government's bid to get an emergency proclamation.

Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah then warned MPs against destabilising the government.

Following this, BN and Umno lawmakers convened to discuss their next step among them being whether to withdraw their support for the PN government.

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak also mooted that Umno consider cooperation with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

Ultimately, Umno decided to stick with PN on the condition that there would be more respect and political consensus.

Meanwhile, Hadi also took aim at the media, some of which he said suffered from "uncontrollable diarrhoea".

"The media must be controlled well during this Covid-19 pandemic, so that they don't publish reports and lengthy opinions which are subtle provocations.

"This could trigger events such as the demonstrations in Thailand against their king. What is the purpose behind such news writing?" he questioned.

The PAS president did not cite any examples. - Mkini
