BN secretary-general Annuar Musa was spotted paying a visit to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin at his residence in Bukit Damansara this evening, amid speculations of strained ties between Umno and Bersatu.
Annuar's visit to Muhyiddin came several days after Umno's political bureau's announcement that it was considering withdrawing support for Perikatan Nasional (PN).
When met by Malaysiakini, Annuar, who is also Federal Territories Minister, however, said it was just an ordinary visit "to a neighbour".
"Nothing much, just an ordinary meeting. After all, we are neighbours," he said when met outside Muhyiddin's house at 6.11pm.
"There was no one else, just me," said Annuar when further quizzed on whether his presence was linked to Umno-Bersatu ties.
He added that Muhyiddin, currently working from home after being exposed to Minister in the Prime Minister Department Zulkifli Mohamad who tested positive for Covid-19, appears to be in good health.
"Alhamdulillah, he is healthy," said Annuar.
The Ketereh MP's car was seen already parked outside Muhyiddin's house upon Malaysiakini's arrival at around 5.30pm.
About 20 minutes later, another car with the word "Istana Negara" in Jawi script on the registration plate was spotted arriving on the scene.
Anwar was granted an audience by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah on Tuesday in which the former claimed he had provided evidence that he commanded the support of more than 120 MPs.
However, Istana Negara had since clarified that Anwar never provided a list of the MPs to back his claim.
Later the same night, Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan announced that the party's political bureau at its meeting had decided to consider withdrawing support for PN and to present Bersatu with new terms of cooperation. - Mkini
