COVID-19 | Seven more employees at Tesco Extra Mutiara Damansara were infected with Covid-19, bringing the total to eight, after one case was announced on Oct 14.
The hypermarket chain said the seven staff members were last at the store on Oct 14 and were among 53 placed under home quarantine.
The store will close tomorrow for contact tracing and disinfection will happen on Oct 25, it said in a statement today.
The Tesco branch had also halted deliveries since Sept 13.
“About 500 of our colleagues and tenants will undergo a swab test and will not be allowed to return to work unless their test result is negative,” it said.
It added that all details of those who scanned the MySejahtera QR code in the relevant timeframe have been handed over to the Health Ministry for contact tracing.
On Oct 14, the hypermarket chain in a Facebook post at about 8pm announced that a trainee staff at the store had tested positive.
However, the store remained open until 10pm, prompting an outcry by shoppers who were unaware and visited the store that night.
The customers also complained that MySejahtera did not alert them that a case was detected at the premises, even after they scanned the QR code there.
Earlier this week, supermarket chain Jaya Grocer announced two of its security guards at the KLIA2 Gateway mall outlet tested positive for Covid-19, prompting the outlet to close for disinfection.
Today, a market at Sea Park, Petaling Jaya was also shut down by the city council after a trader tested positive for the virus. - Mkini
