COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported two new clusters in the Klang Valley and one in Sandakan.
The first cluster in the Klang Valley is known as Palma. It involved Gombak, Hulu Selangor, and Kepong.
The index case of this cluster was identified after a screening on an individual with Covid-19 symptom on Oct 17. He was sent to Sungai Buloh hospital.
Following that, close contact screening found 12 positive cases.
Until today, a total of 101 individuals from this cluster were screened with 13 testing positive, and 88 pending results.
The second cluster in the Klang Valley is known as Jaya. This cluster involved Sepang and Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
The index case for this cluster is an individual who was screened at the workplace on Oct 20 and found to be positive.
Close contact screening brought eight more positive cases.
As of 12 noon today, a total of 48 individuals from this cluster were screened where nine were found to be positive while 39 are pending results.
In Sandakan, the new Samudera cluster emerged after the index case, Patient 22,612, was admitted to the Duchess of Kent Hospital.
Close contact screening discovered seven more positive cases.
Until today, a total of eight individuals from this cluster were screened and all turned out positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry reported that the Orkim cluster in Johor Bahru has ended. This brings the number of clusters which have ended to 109.
Today, the ministry announced 710 new cases and 10 deaths.
A total of 31 active clusters had contributed to the latest triple-digit figure.
They include the Kepayan Prison cluster in Sabah which recorded 140 new cases, Remand Prison cluster in Penang (39), Sofi cluster in Negeri Sembilan (27), and Saguking cluster in Sabah (14). - Mkini
