KOTA BARU: Four Malaysians were arrested by Thai police after they entered the country illegally yesterday.
The four, aged 16 and 27, were travelling in a car when they were arrested in the Takbai sub-province.
A Thai security spokesman said the four were passing a roadblock when they were detained at about 1.30pm Thai time (2.30pm local time).
"The four, three from Melaka while another from Selangor, could not provide any travel documents when asked by the soldiers manning the roadblock," the spokesman said.
The spokesman said initial investigation showed that the four entered Thailand via one of the illegal jetties along the border.
"The four are now being held at the Narathiwat police station," the spokesman said. - NST
