Private hospitals waiting on Putrajaya, ready to expedite Covid-19 vaccination

Private hospitals are prepared to assist the government in order to expedite the Covid-19 vaccination process, said the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM) president Kuljit Singh (above).

"APHM is waiting to discuss the mechanism of vaccination as many would be happy to be vaccinated in private hospitals.

"It's a service we can provide for the public. However, we are waiting for further instructions," he said in a statement.

Kuljit also thanked the government for agreeing to vaccinate healthcare workers in both the private and public sectors simultaneously.

"We will work closely with the government to make sure all the frontliners are covered with vaccination in the healthcare sector," he said.

He also urged the public to participate in the vaccination programme.

"The vaccines are safe and the potential long-term complications of Covid-19 are far severe than the unlikely side effects of the vaccine. Everyone has to wait for their turn and will be notified," Kuljit said.

The first batch of Covid-19 vaccines is expected to arrive next week, a week earlier than the initial date of Feb 26.

The government has already chosen some 7,000 people to receive the vaccines. These people will then be tasked with administering the vaccines to other recipients. - Mkini
