PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 1,360 Covid-19 cases and two deaths in the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,491 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 322,416.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stood at 338,168.
There are 14,504 active cases, with 157 patients being treated in intensive care and 72 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the two deaths take the number of fatalities to 1,248.
Selangor recorded the highest number of infections with 356, of which 210 were detected from clusters and screening of close contacts.
This was followed by Sarawak (308), Johor (129), Penang (113), Kuala Lumpur (98), Perak (71), Sabah (70), Kelantan (63), Negri Sembilan (49), Kedah (44), Melaka (32), Pahang (10), Putrajaya (eight), Terengganu (six) and Labuan (three).
Perlis did not record any cases today.
The new cases today involved 1,359 local infections and one imported case. Local cases comprised 1,086 Malaysians and 273 foreigners.
There were 62 cases from prisons and immigration detention centres today, involving the Tembok Tapah (27), Telok Mas (20), Tembok Muhasabah (12), Tembok Pengkalan Chepa (one), Tembok Bukit Besi (one), and Tembok Sungai Udang (one) clusters.
Both deaths today involved Malaysians from Sarawak, aged 72 and 89, both of whom had existing medical conditions.- FMT
