Azmin hopes Umno reconsiders decision on ties with Bersatu

Perikatan Nasional (PN) information chief Mohamed Azmin Ali has expressed hope that the Umno leadership will reconsider its decision to cease cooperation with Bersatu in the 15th general election.

He said PN was ready to cooperate with all quarters to ensure the government led by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin remained stable and strong to continue assisting the people in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We hope that Umno leadership will reconsider the decision... PN was formed with noble ambitions, hence, unity is vital, we have to uphold the constitution and the law (because) we want to protect the stability of the country.

“We don’t want any quarters to act irresponsibly and cause instability in the government because, in the end, it is the people who will suffer,” he said when met by reporters in Taman Keramat, Kuala Lumpur, today.

Meanwhile, asked to comment on the Bersatu supreme council meeting yesterday, Mohamed Azmin said the party decided to continue its efforts to foster strong unity and harmony within PN.

“We will ensure that PN members adhere to the principles that the PN government is based on to ensure stability and good governance.

“Besides that, PN guarantees the independence of the judiciary and also upholds the supremacy of the constitution and the law to ensure justice for all Malaysians,” he said.

The Gombak member of parliament said the people need a stable and strong government to ensure an effective delivery system to revive the country’s economy affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
