KOTA BHARU: There is no need to establish a royal commission of inquiry to investigate claims made by the Inspector-General of Police, Abdul Hamid Bador, about an alleged cartel within the police force intent on toppling him, law minister Takiyuddin Hassan said today.
Takiyuddin said the matter can be resolved by the Police Force Commission. “I think there is no need (to establish a royal inquiry, as the home minister, Hamzah Zainudin, has said it is an internal matter that can be handled by the police commission,” he said.
“The commission is chaired by the home minister and the IGP is a member of the commission as well. I think it’s not a big problem to resolve, the commission can solve police and personnel issues,” he told reporters here today.
Hamid’s expose was made during the “Sinar Live with IGP” programme. He said certain junior officers within the force were manoeuvring to topple him. He said the movement was the same group that led a cartel within the force that hoped to dominate the nation’s security force to further their own agenda. - FMT
