PETALING JAYA: A patient suffering from several medical conditions fell to his death at the Bukit Mertajam Hospital yesterday.
The 62-year-old man is understood to have fallen from a ward building of the hospital. The man died of head injuries after being rushed to the emergency ward.
Seberang Perai Utara police chief Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the victim was admitted to the hospital on March 14 with low blood pressure, pneumonia and Hepatitis C. The victim also had a history of psychiatric treatment and had been prescribed methadone due to drug addiction as well.
It is understood that he also had suffered from depression before. It is learnt that the man had been seen removing the IV drips from his arm and walking out into the corridor of the ward before he fell to his death.
“The investigations found no criminal elements. There was no CCTV in the ward area and where the deceased fell. Currently, the body is at the forensic division of Bukit Mertajam Hospital for post mortem,” he said in a statement.
