Report to us attempts to buy over MPs, urges MACC

The MACC today urged anyone with information on attempts to buy over parliamentarians to lodge a report with the anti-graft agency.

This came after Sekijang MP Natrah Ismail claimed that she was approached by two individuals who allegedly tried to entice her into supporting Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Natrah is a member of opposition party PKR.

"MACC calls for the Sekijang MP or any individual who has information on claims that there are individuals bribing MPs, as what was viralled on social media recently, to come forward and lodge a report with the MACC if it is really seen as an act of bribery.

"The report is as per Section 25 of the MACC Act 2009 which stipulates the obligation to report any bribery transaction.

"MACC is ready to conduct an investigation on the reports," the commission said in a statement today.

Two days ago (on March 4), Natrah claimed there was an attempt to poach her into supporting Muhyiddin who is the president of Bersatu and leader of the Perikatan Nasional government.

She claimed that the individuals had outlined the benefits she could garner by giving such support. Natrah said she rejected the offer and informed PKR's top leadership of the matter.

Besides Natrah, another PKR MP, Awang Husaini Sahari, had made a similar claim.

In a statement yesterday, the Putatan MP said that he was contacted by individuals who made offers to him in exchange for his support for Muhyiddin.

He, too, rejected the offer.

"To anyone who still wants to try, you can just stop. I am not for sale," Awang announced on Facebook. - Mkini
