PETALING JAYA: A police officer serving at the USJ 8 station in Subang Jaya has been praised for his selfless act in assisting a senior citizen on crutches who was trying to enter the station during a downpour on Sunday.
Fairul Azizi Che Mansor was on duty at the complaints counter yesterday evening when he noticed the man on crutches trying to get to the station in the heavy rain.
He rushed out with an umbrella and accompanied the man into the station. He then handed the man a change of clothes as the latter was already soaking wet.
Once the man finished lodging his report, Fairul again helped him out in the rain back to his car.
USJ 8 police chief Muhamad Jamil said he felt both proud and touched by Fairul’s spontaneous act of kindness towards a member of the public, by coming to the aid of the 74-year-old man.
“As a supervisor, he is a very good member of the force. His actions deserve to be praised,” Jamil told FMT.
He added that there were discussions on an award for Fairul for his selfless action, saying it was an inspiration to other members of the force.
Jamil said the station had several covered parking spots for the disabled, located closer to the building. - FMT
