Celebrity Eina Azman and her husband who both have comorbidities and are considered as high risk, were scheduled to receive their vaccination under Phase 2 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP), says Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) in Ipoh.
In a statement today, its director Dr Abdul Malek Osman dismissed allegation that the couple had jumped queue when they went to the hospital to get their Covid-19 immunisation on May 25.
"Based on our checks, the eligibility of the couple to receive vaccination was based on a referral by a specialist, who had treated them for their health issues and comorbidities," he said.
He, however, did not specify what were the health issues and comorbidities of the 26-year-old actress and her 42-year-old husband.
Since Tuesday, it had gone viral on social media that the couple had jumped the queue when they were vaccinated at the hospital.
"There is no issue of jumping queue; the couple was listed as vaccine recipients on the advice of a specialist who treated them because they are in the high-risk group category.
"The couple had received their Covid-19 immunisation at the HRPB vaccine centre on May 25," Malek added.
He also stated that the vaccine centre at HRPB only accepts patients who have already undergone pre-vaccination assessment, which they can only get at specialist clinics in hospitals.
The centre itself does not do pre-vaccination assessment. - Mkini
