PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak has called on the government to take full responsibility for the worsening of the Covid-19 outbreak in the country, despite declaring a state of Emergency to rein in the infections.
In a Facebook post today, Najib said the government had been given full power to manage the country for four months since the Emergency was declared on Jan 11 yet had failed to curb the pandemic. In fact, the current level of Covid-19 cases was higher than before the Emergency.
“If you want full power then you also have to take full responsibility if you fail. Sounds fair?” he wrote.
Najib said the public should not be blamed for the worsening conditions as it was the government’s fault for lifting Covid-19 restrictions too soon.
He also urged the government to come up with another stimulus package for the people to cope with the new movement control order restrictions, saying their savings and reserves were being depleted after two rounds of MCO restrictions. “What are they expected to face MCO 3.0 with?” - FMT
