Malaysia has administered 2.07 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines as of yesterday, according to the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).
At least 1.28 million residents have received one dose, which offers some protection.
Another 793,000 have completed their vaccination process.
The number of people registered for vaccination has reached 10.3 million or 42.4 percent of the 24.3 million target.
The average number of people who signed up for vaccination per day has been 33,272 since May 8.
If this rate remains constant, it will take 420 days, from today, to register the targeted number of vaccine recipients.
It has been 85 days since the Covid-19 vaccination programme kicked off.
Malaysia is currently in Phase 1 and 2 of the vaccination programme, involving frontliners and the frail respectively.
Phase 3, which is for everyone else, was supposed to kick off this month but has been postponed to the next.
However, those who do not qualify for Phase 1 and 2 can try their luck by opting in for the AstraZeneca vaccine, although priority would be given to senior citizens. - Mkini
