PETALING JAYA: Police are looking into a viral video showing a group of Indians celebrating Deepavali in Brickfields and violating Covid-19 SOPs.
The 36-second video on social media platform TikTok shows a group of men playing fireworks and drums while dancing in the middle of the road.
There was no physical distancing while some people could be seen not wearing face masks.
The incident was believed to have occurred on Nov 3, between 11pm and 12.30am.
Brickfields deputy police chief Basri Sagoni said that based on the recording, there was a violation of Covid-19 SOPs.
“Police take any violation of SOPs in the country seriously and an investigation will be conducted. Those with information related to the incident are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation,” he said in a statement.
He urged the public to not make any speculations on the video to avoid public disorder. - FMT
