College student nabbed for selling ganja brownies in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: A 19-year-old college student was nabbed for allegedly distributing "ganja brownies".

Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Yahaya Othman said the suspect was detained following a raid at Jalan 9 in the city at about 5pm on March 25.

"We seized 6kg of brownies containing cannabis worth about RM21,000.

"We believe the male student has been selling ganja brownies for about three months," he said in a statement on Friday (March 31).

The suspect did not have any prior criminal records, he said.

"We are investigating where he obtained the cannabis.

"The suspect also tested negative for drugs," he added.

Meanwhile, in another raid, a 31-year-old Indonesian Man was detained along with an array of drugs following a raid in Subang Jaya on March 27.

"A total of 56kg of cannabis worth RM166,000 and 1kg of syabu worth RM26,000 were seized in the raid.

"The cannabis was buried inside a one metre-deep hole located at a nearby clearing," DCP Yahaya said.

Initial investigations indicated that the suspect was hired to safeguard the drug supply, he said.

"We will investigate further.

"The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine," he added.

DCP Yahaya said efforts to track down the remaining members of both syndicates were still ongoing.

"The drugs seized from both raids could have been supplied to 126,000 drug users," he said.

He urged the public to cooperate with the police by supplying information on illegal activities, especially drug-related ones.

"We hope those with information can contact the nearest police station.

"Cooperation between the police and public is vital in curbing crime," he said. - Star
