Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has no intentions to be involved in the purported ‘Dubai Move’, said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) executive council member Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
He said the movement may only plunge Malaysia into a deeper crisis.
“This is because we need a stable federal government that will steer the nation’s economic recovery for the sake of the people,” he was quoted saying by The Borneo Post.
Fazzrudin (above) added that Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg and Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof, who is GPS’ parliamentary chief whip, have expressed the coalition’s commitment to supporting the current administration.
“We simply do not have the time to entertain political dramas that will affect the stability of the administration and undo our efforts to get the economy back on track,” he said.
He was responding to a call by Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan for GPS to seize opportunities from the purported movement.
Fazzrudin said Voon’s statement only added fuel to the fire and had concealed motives to destabilise the political climate in the nation.
“Since time immemorial, PBK and Voon have always tried to drive a wedge among Sarawakians and have never been sincere in fighting for Sarawak. The party only seeks to serve themselves for the purpose of political mileage and brownie points.
“I suggest that he (Voon) open his eyes and acknowledge the success and accomplishments made by the GPS government and Premier Abang Johari,” he said.
Alleged plot
Community Communications Department (J-Kom) deputy director-general Ismail Yusop previously claimed there was a movement to topple Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the federal government.
The plan is reportedly to get more government backbenchers to defect and oust the Pakatan Harapan chairperson.
However, Perikatan Nasional lawmakers have denied the existence of such a plot, calling it a diversion tactic by the government.
Works deputy minister Ahmad Maslan also doubted that BN lawmakers would defect, citing a hefty RM100 million fine for breach of contract.
Further, he alleged that even if BN and its 30 MPs moved en-bloc, Anwar would still have enough MPs to form the government.
The prime minister previously said that Sabah and Sarawak government MPs have also given assurance that they would not take part in any change of government. - Mkini
