THE now heavy reliance on cashless transactions in parking lots, though most welcomed by all, resulted in chaos at the iCity parking lot following a temporary glitch in the Maybank online payment system.
Reports confirm disruptions in the bank’s services, including its MAE platform, causing inconvenience for customers unable to access online banking or make withdrawals from ATMs.
Social media platforms were flooded with complaints and concerns. Customers were stranded in parking lots unable to pay their dues. Users were lamenting the heavy reliance on cashless systems amid technical glitches.
Some shared embarrassing encounters, such as being unable to pay at restaurants. The bank was criticized for frequent system downtime, especially during festive seasons.
A user went on to contact the e-commerce platform Shopee after he could not reload his payment method and got a reply from the company with an apology for the trouble.
