PETALING JAYA
Defence minister Khaled Nordin has revealed that two Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft have been deployed to Cairo, Egypt, to bring injured Palestinians back to Malaysia for treatment.

This comes after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim pledged on Aug 4 to bring Palestinians injured in the conflict against Israel for treatment in Malaysia.

When contacted by Bernama, Khaled confirmed the matter and said more details on the mission would be announced by the end of this week.

Wait until this Friday. I will update with more details then,
 he said.

According to FlightRadar24, an RMAF A400M aircraft bearing the callsign RMF147 had departed from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang at 6.56pm yesterday bound for Karachi, Pakistan. From Karachi, the same flight landed in Cairo today at 5.55am local time.

Meanwhile, RMF148 was seen to have departed from Subang at 7.20pm yesterday, bound for Karachi. From Karachi, the aircraft landed in Cairo at 6.19am local time today.

Anwar previously said he was in contact with Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to facilitate humanitarian aid and enable Malaysia to bring the injured and sick Palestinian women and children into the country for treatment.

He told a Palestine solidarity rally in Bukit Jalil that he had also contacted Turkish president Recep Erdogan and the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to continue providing humanitarian aid and support. - FMT
