PETALING JAYA: Thirteen teenagers aged 16 to 19 have been found guilty of the murder of 17-year-old Nazmie Aizzat Narul Azwan at the Lahad Datu vocational college in March last year.
The Tawau High Court ruled that all 13 accused were guilty of the charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34, for culpable homicide, Harian Metro reported.
Section 302 provides for the death penalty, or imprisonment of 30 to 40 years and up to 12 strokes of the cane, upon conviction.
Justice Duncan Sikodol fixed Aug 28 for sentencing.
In April 2024, the 13 teenage boys were jointly charged with murdering Nazmie in a dormitory room at the college between 9pm on March 21 and 7.35am on March 22.
The defence closed their case on April 15, 2025, after calling 18 witnesses to testify. The 13 accused had also testified under oath from the witness stand. - FMT
