SABAH chief minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has hinted that the state assembly may be dissolved soon, but did not disclose the exact date. Met by reporters, he was asked if the dissolution would be after Malaysia Day celebrations.
“It’s still a while before dissolution. You can still take one or two weeks off,” he said after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sabah Region Academy of Construction Malaysia Campus project at its site in Kampung Beringgis on Saturday.
When pressed on a date, he replied, “Just wait, wait until I call you three reporters.”
Meanwhile, Warisan president Shafie Apdal announced after the party’s supreme council meeting in Kota Kinabalu that Warisan will contest all 73 seats in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election without forming coalitions.
He said the decision was unanimous and not his alone, stressing that Warisan’s only collaboration would be with the people of Sabah.
Shafie explained that the move to go solo stemmed from past experiences where political collaborations failed to improve Sabahans’ welfare and instead led to seat-hunting and party-hopping among politicians.
Warisan’s focus, he added, will be on addressing core needs such as water, electricity, and road infrastructure. The 16th Sabah assembly will automatically dissolve on November 11 if not dissolved earlier, paving the way for state polls. — Focus Malaysia
