PETALING JAYA:
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, has expressed his gratitude to Russian president Vladimir Putin for inviting him to visit Russia.

In a Bernama report, Sultan Ibrahim also praised Putin’s leadership, saying the Russian president had led the country through “trying, difficult times” and demonstrated “vision and resilience” as a strong leader.

“I want to thank you for the reception. It is a great honour for me to meet with you in Moscow.

“I’ve always dreamed of meeting you. I would like to sincerely thank you for the invitation,” Sultan Ibrahim told Putin during their meeting at the Kremlin.

This marks the first visit by a Malaysian head of state to Russia since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1967.

During a visit to Russia in May, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim pushed for greater cooperation with Russia across a wide range of industries, including food technology, digital development, nuclear energy, and military.

In a meeting with Putin at the Kremlin, Anwar described Russia as Malaysia’s “great friend” and called for long-standing bilateral cooperation to be translated into concrete results. - FMT
